Dazzle Entertainment was founded in 2004 by industry veteran David Vasile.  Prior to founding Dazzle, Vasile served as the President of Anchor Bay Entertainment.  Anchor Bay is home to some of the best known films/programs in horror (Halloween, Hellraiser, Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead trilogy and Night/Day/Dawn of the dead), TV (3rd Rock From The Sun, 21 Jump Street, Xena, Hercules, Highlander), Children’s (Thomas the Tank Train) and Classics (Heather's, Three's Company).  Under Vasile’s leadership, the company expanded its domestic and international operations becoming a top 10 distributor within the industry.  Vasile then sold the company in 2004 and, through a series of acquisitions; it is now part of the Starz brand under John Malone’s Liberty Media empire.  Vasile has also served as senior executive and management consultant for a number of larger public media and entertainment companies.  Prior to entering the film industry in 2000, Vasile held numerous senior management positions in the music industry including a responsibility for over $350MM in U.S. music distribution and management of MTV, VH1 and CMT’s online commerce efforts.

Producer's Agency, Sales & Services

Dazzle is made up a two units.  The first provides a comprehensive set of sales agency and representation services to producer’s of independent film.  Our agent’s have an average of over 20 years of experience with theatrical, television, DVD, and international distributors/broadcasters as well as impressive credentials within the emerging digital distribution space.  Dazzle provides financial services to our clients with a focus on “completion funding” and institutional investment. 

We have developed a strong reputation as a boutique agency that works closely with our clients to maximize the return on your film throughout its entire lifecycle.  What is truly unique about Dazzle is our ability to not only bring your films to the right distributors but to also leverage the in-depth knowledge from our consulting division to give Producer’s un-paralleled insight into the financial flows and critical capabilities associated with distribution.   Our client retention rate since we launched our company in 2004 has remained 100% and as of 2008, we now manage over 50 film / television assets with production budgets ranging from $500,000 to over $10,000,000.

Management Consulting

Dazzle’s second business unit provides management services to distributors and broadcasters within the film, DVD and (on a selective basis) music.  While Dazzle provides a broad range of services, we have specialized in three major areas:

  • ·     Self Distribution: We have worked with several large production companies, investment groups and celebrities that wish to take greater control of their distribution of their films and other programming.  Through this service, we create financial models to help you understand the specific economics/upsides/risks associated with the self-distribution model.  We will also implement your distribution network assembling the underlying logistic components and establishing relationships on your behalf with key distribution points/retailers.
     

  • ·     Market Expansion: We have helped numerous distributors and media companies (ranging in size from $5MM - $650MM in annual revenues) and mini-major distributors to launch or expand their distribution within the domestic market.  We believe a key growth strategy lies in the ability to open new markets, delivering new content to new consumers often through “non-traditional distribution channels”).  Visit our client list on the website to see a list some of the companies we have helped to generate in excess of $200MM per annum in incremental revenues through our Expansion services.   In 2008, we added field agents in New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Toronto that work directly with major retailers/distributors.
     

  • ·     Mergers & Acquisitions: While transactions are handled on a more selective basis, we have helped several companies to buy and sell over $35MM in media assets and corporations since our 2004 launch.  Transactions have ranged in size between $1MM and $20MM.  We handle all aspect of packaging, solicit buyers/acquisition targets on your behalf and work with you closely to bring you smoothly through the due diligence, negotiation and sale process.
