We work closely with potential studio / distribution partners on their sales, marketing and distribution plans before a final deal is signed to ensure that we maximize the revenue potential for our clients over the life of the license. Since our company may represent both the “buyer” as well as the “seller” we offer something that is unheard of in the industry. If we represent both the buyer and the seller, we waive one of the fees. While this is extremely uncommon, we do this to ensure that you can always rest assured that we always represent your best interests. The Dazzle difference begins with each new project that we take on. We begin by preparing a sophisticated solicitation package that provides all the information on your film along with economic models, volume projections and authoritative information to help objectively guide the potential partner through their valuation of each property. We also work closely with you to review a profile on each perspective licensor so that you can examine their financial stability, strengths, weaknesses, track record and marketing strength to help ensure we are finding the “right partner” not just someone to distribute your films. As part of the contracting process, we focus very intently on securing the best deal and terms possible. We also work closely with the distributor to review their sales, marketing, release and distribution plans. If we identify gaps or opportunities that the distributor may not be able to handle, we will often assist them in securing distribution into those accounts or channels to make sure that sales are maximized. Often, we will also help our producers hold back rights for channels the distributor may not be able to reach (e.g., non-traditional retails which can account for up to 30% of sales for certain properties; direct response; etc.) to ensure that the rights for these lucrative channels are not under utilized. Once the deal is signed, we continue to work closely with the distribution partner not just on royalty accounting but in conducting quarterly reviews of their sales and marketing activities (augmenting their sales efforts where needed) and on overall product/release planning. While we specialize in Domestic and International home video licensing, we also have a full practice that handles TV, merchandising and other ancillary (Pay per View, In-room, In-flight, etc.) rights. This comprehensive and holistic model for our agency is why our clients not only select our firm to represent their properties but why over two thirds of our new clients come through referrals.
